Carpet Tech donates 390 cans of soup to Meals on Wheels
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – Carpet Tech has partnered with Meals on Wheels to donate soup to local seniors in need.
This year’s canned soup drive was one of the few fundraising drives the company holds each year to help give back to those in need in the Permian Basin.
This week, Carpet Tech collected and donated nearly 400 cans of soup from across the Permian Basin to seniors in need.
“We only asked for 5 cans and many people gave 10-15 and so if it was just out of the goodness of their hearts or if they knew exactly why they wanted
it’s been a big impact for us and we know it’s going to put smiles on some faces and food in some stomachs,” said Kyle Rutherford of Carpet Tech.
For the past six weeks, Carpet Tech has asked customers to donate at least five cans of soup in exchange for a 15% discount on cleaning services.
The can collection has become an annual event for the company.
“However we can get involved in the community that cares for us, we want to do what we can to care for them,” Rutherford said.
Carpet Tech has been in Odessa for about 10 years serving the people of the Permian Basin, from Seminole to Alpine and Big Spring.
Just in time for the holidays, the company participates in a toy drive similar to the soup drive.
When customers purchase a room cleaning and donate a toy, the carpet technician will clean another room for free.
“Nowadays everything is a bit fast and people tend to forget our community and where we come from and one thing that Carpet Tech really likes to focus on is the community not only we serve but how we can serve them in not just what we do on a day-to-day basis,” Rutherford said.
