Closures at the busy Nacogdoches intersection scheduled for Monday
The Texas Department of Transportation is warning motorists that starting Monday, June 7, work crews will begin grinding and encrustation operations at Nacogdoches, which will require the closure of Company 59 at the Loop 224 intersection. / Stallings Drive.
Workers will begin operations at 6 a.m. Monday to mill the pavement and deposit a hot mix, weather permitting. There will be no traffic or left turns allowed at the intersection and motorists will be directed to open traffic lanes with message signs and traffic control in place. Once work is completed on the inner lanes, crews will begin work on the outer lanes at the intersection. The forecast for Monday as well as much of next week calls for rain, so keep in mind that this project may take longer than expected.
Work at the intersection is expected to be completed by Tuesday, June 8, but work on Company 59 will continue and will take up to two weeks before being completed.
“It’s a very busy intersection and we want motorists to pay attention to the posted signs and traffic control that will direct them around our work. Our goal is the safety of our workers as well as motorists, ”said Rhonda Oaks, Public Information Officer.
Motorists should expect delays in the area or choose alternative routes. Reduce speed and obey all traffic controls. Reduce speed in this work area and be prepared for sudden stops or vehicle meltdown.
