Free COVID-19 vaccines to be offered at the Texas Blueberry Festival
When you think of the Texas Blueberry Festival, getting the COVID-19 shot probably doesn’t come to your mind, but that’s exactly what will be on offer on Saturday, June 12 at this year’s festival.
According to a press release, the City of Nacogdoches will offer COVID-19 vaccinations, free of charge, at 31st Texas Blueberry Festival presented by Tipton Ford. Vaccines will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at the downtown fire station, 212 E. Pilar St.
“We are very happy to see that the City of Nacogdoches offers to vaccinate people who attend the blueberry festival. The Chamber hopes to provide a wonderful festival, and we encourage attendees to comply with COVID-19 social distancing protocols, wash their hands and wear masks. A supply of masks will be available at the chamber information booth, ”said Nacogdoches County Chamber President / CEO C. Wayne Mitchell.
Participants will be required to complete a one-page consent form upon arrival at the fire station and will then receive their vaccine. These Moderna vaccines are free and accessible to everyone. Since this is the Moderna variety, those who receive the vaccine will need to schedule their second dose, which will be given approximately three weeks after their injection at the Blueberry Festival. No residence restrictions apply. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
