Governor Gianforte wants freedom for truckers at the Canadian border
Trucks loaded with groceries and other goods from Canada to the United States have been prevented from delivering their loads to Montana, and Montana truckers are quarantined in Canada.
Governor Greg Gianforte has been in contact with Canadian officials to encourage them to keep the wheels of commerce crossing the border into Montana.
“Here is the reality,” Governor Gianforte said. “Our supply chains are broken, and these re-imposed vaccination mandates on truckers who just got reborn in January came at exactly the wrong time. I mean, with the broken supply chain, we’re not getting products to grocery stores or pharmacies, and we have to keep our truckers on the road.
Gianforte said truckers, who usually travel alone, are not at great risk of contracting COVID.
“They are quarantined in their taxis,” he said. “These warrants that are in place right now mean that when a Canadian trucker enters the United States, even if he has been vaccinated, even if he has been vaccinated, then when he crosses the border again, he must quarantine. and they can’t work, which means their trucks are off the road, and they don’t get a paycheck because they’re not hauling goods.
Gianforte, who helped create a mandate-free state in the last legislative session, said truckers are being held prisoner by Canadian politics.
“It is chilling for me to see the anti-freedom actions taken by Prime Minister Trudeau,” he said. “That’s why I joined Prime Minister Kenney, Prime Minister Moe, and 15 other governors and sent a letter to both the Biden administration and Prime Minister Trudeau and his administration. saying ‘end the madness; end the warrants, let our truckers get back to work so we can rebuild our supply chain and stock the shelves.”
Gianforte ended by asking the leaders of the two governments to come together and end the standoff in moving shipments across the US and Canadian border.
“It makes absolutely no sense,” he said. “We know warrants don’t work and I’m calling on Prime Minister Trudeau and Joe Biden to come together and fix this and get our truckers back on the road.”
Prime Minister Trudeau imposed the Emergencies Act in an effort to force an end to the truckers’ freedom convoy.

Today, these parks are spread across the country in 25 states and the US Virgin Islands. The land around them was purchased or donated, although much of it was inhabited by natives for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world and as spaces for exploration.
