Justin Trudeau visits a war-torn suburb in Kyiv Irpin, Ukraine

Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn released photos of Justin Trudeau’s visit
Kyiv:
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Irpin outside the Ukrainian capital on Sunday, its mayor said, where Russian forces have been accused of atrocities against civilians.
Mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, posted photos on an official social media channel with images of Trudeau writing that the Canadian Prime Minister “came to Irpin to see with his own eyes all the horror that the Russian occupiers had done to our city”.
Trudeau’s office confirmed the visit, saying “the Prime Minister is in Ukraine to meet with President Zelensky and reaffirm Canada’s unwavering support for the Ukrainian people.”
Markushyn said the Canadian prime minister was invited to visit the suburb badly damaged by Russian forces at the start of their invasion launched in late February.
“He saw – not military installations – but burned down and completely destroyed the homes of the people of Irpin, who until recently enjoyed life and had their own plans for the future,” the mayor said.
Several Western political leaders, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, recently visited Irpin and other residential areas around the capital kyiv, where Russian forces have been accused of killing hundreds of civilians.
