O2 Telefónica equips a robot vacuum cleaner with IoT connectivity
As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), O2 Telefónica will in future equip every NR 1500 robot vacuum cleaner from Nexaro, a subsidiary of Vorwerk, with a Telefónica IoT SIM card.
O2 Telefónica’s connectivity solution is the prerequisite for intelligent, real-time management of autonomous robot vacuums in commercial properties. The Nexaro robot vacuum is the first of its kind. Thus, O2 Telefónica is helping the start-up to revolutionize the European market for facility management and the cleaning industry through the use of these cobots.
Cobotics stands for true cooperation between humans and state-of-the-art autonomous robot technology, where cleaning staff are relieved by the elimination of particularly strenuous floor cleaning and early or late work hours.
Nexaro’s Cobot system solution With numerous sensors and AI, floor cleaning is documented in real time.
With the Nexaro NR 1500 and the associated Nexaro HUB software solution, Nexaro is launching a robotic suction system solution (cobots) that helps increase efficiency and quality while reducing costs. Model calculations show cost savings of 35% compared to structures with traditional staff deployment.
Thanks to numerous sensors and artificial intelligence (AI), the environment is automatically recorded by the cobots. Floor cleaning is documented in real time. The cleaning staff is thus supported in their daily work and the professional services of the building are brought to a new level of quality.
Thanks to O2 Telefónica’s IoT solution, cobots can also be used without a WLAN connection.
The professional cobot was developed by Nexaro at the technology site in Wuppertal and can be operated autonomously anywhere via a mobile IoT connection from O2 Telefónica. The so-called Nexaro HUB is responsible for controlling cleaning robots. This comprehensive software solution not only ensures the reliable and autonomous operation of the NR 1500, but also enables the coordination, control and documentation of all cleaning services, thus significantly increasing efficiency.
Only German servers are used for the Nexaro HUB. Reliable connectivity from the NR 1500 to the Nexaro HUB is ensured by the integrated mobile radio connection and the Kite SIM management platform from O2 Telefónica – this means that the devices can be used permanently and flexibly online without a WLAN connection. . The cobots’ Europe-wide mobile data usage costs are already included in the price of the Nexaro system.
The Market Robots are vital to the cleaning industry. In the context of facility management, the cleaning industry has a huge digitalization backlog and, at the same time, high cost pressure. Rising wages, a shortage of cleaners and lagging digitization are putting pressure on the industry. The cleaning industry is an attractive market: in Europe, it generates an annual turnover of nearly 130 billion euros and employs more than four million people. In Germany, 1.2 million cleaners in more than 40,000 companies generate sales of just under 34 billion euros.
