A motorcyclist was killed when the bicycle he was riding left a rural road north of Binghamton and crashed into a tree.

Authorities say Todd Blakeslee, 56, of Port Crane, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Tunnel Road in the town of Colesville shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Friday when the crash was reported.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle was traveling north on Tunnel Road. They said Blakeslee was thrown from the bike when it came off the roadway and hit a tree.

According to a press release, alcohol was a factor in the crash.

It was the second motorcycle fatality in Broome County in less than a month. Christopher Caletka, 31, of Binghamton, died in an accident on April 27 at the Route 17 / Interstate 81 interchange in Binghamton.
