Post-war Italian supercars join stellar offering

The Broad Arrow auction will take place on Thursday, August 18 at 4:00 p.m. PDT, with a public preview on Wednesday, August 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT and a private preview starting at 5:00 p.m. for guests of the Hagerty Motorlux event, whose tickets can be purchased directly at www.motorlux.com. The public preview on Thursday, August 18 will open at 9:00 a.m. PDT, with the auction open to registered bidders and their guests not beginning until 4:00 p.m. PDT.

The latest additions to the list include the 1995 Ferrari F50, with an estimate of $4,400,000 – $5,000,000. An exceptional example and one of only 349 examples originally produced, the three-owner car shown here has just received its annual service at Ferrari of Houston and is fully documented by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. Certified Ferrari Classiche in 2017, the US-spec F50 comes complete with all appropriate tool kits, hardtop cases and manuals.
Another highlight of the show is the 1971 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman (LWB) six-door landaulet, with an estimate of $2,000,000 to $2,500,000, and one of 26 six-door Pullman 600 landaulets built between 1963 and 1981, built ostensibly without regard or concern for cost. A fully numbered example, the 600 Pullman benefited from a spectacular, uncompromising restoration by Kienle Automobiltechnik between 2016 and 2020. First owned by the Democratic Republic of Congo, it was factory ordered with a hydraulically operated glass partition, a intercom system, television, and tape recorder. Arguably one of the finest examples in existence, the availability of these royal and rare Landaulets is indeed remarkable.
Following the theme of the world’s finest and rarest post-war British and European cars, the 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Sports Saloon by HJ Mulliner, is an equally popular automobile. Estimated to fetch $2,200,000-$2,600,000 at auction, the example shown here is the 1954 New York Auto Show car, which is one of only 41 standard-drive shift cars. to the left. In particular, it was first owned by William Brewster, associated with the famous coachbuilder Rolls-Royce Brewster & Co. Today, it is simply resplendent after a complete restoration by the marque specialists, Vantage Motorworks in Miami, Florida .
Another highlight of the auction’s grand tour includes the 1957 Bentley Continental S1 Fastback Sports Saloon by HJ Mulliner (Estimate: $800,000 – $1,000,000). And for something completely different, a 2013 Mercedes-Benz G500 Convertible Final Edition (Estimate: $500,000 – $600,000) also joins another rare and interesting car included in the auction. Other Ferrari highlights also include an outstanding example of the iconic 1990Ferrari F40with an estimate of $1,950,000 – $2,150,000 plus a brand new and well specified Ferrari 599 GTO 2011with an estimate of $750,000 to $950,000.
Another suitable entry for the auction is the 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 (estimate: $1,600,000 – $1,900,000). This exceptionally well-prepared example features an upgraded air conditioning system, displays less than 700 miles from new, and benefits from over $20,000 spent perfecting the car since July 2021. Finally, one of the Italian sports cars ultimate, the 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400S (Estimate: $1,600,000 – $1,900,000) joins the offer. One of the select few finished at Argento Indianapolis Metallizzato; the matching numbers example has benefited from years of routine care and maintenance throughout its life.
The Broad Arrow Auction will take place Thursday, August 18 at the Monterey Jet Center alongside the Motorlux event which builds on the legacy of McCall’s Motorworks Revival under Hagerty’s leadership. The auction will feature 91 exceptional motor cars and includes previously announced highlights led by Sir Sean Connery’s personal 1964 Aston Martin DB5 offered in the name of the Connery family.
