Richard “Ricky” M. Klein, 68, formerly of West Stockbridge, died on Monday February 28, 2022 at his home with his beloved wife and family. Ricky was born in Pittsfield on January 30, 1954, the son of Alan and Alice (Murray) Klein. He was a class graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School in 1971, then earned a business administration degree from Berkshire Community College in 1973. He established Ricky’s Auto Body in West Stockbridge, operating from 1978 to 2008, alongside 9 years served as Selectman of the same city in the 90s. He then ventured into the construction industry where he started a landscaping and excavation company, Thistle-Doo Development Inc., which he named after the greenhouse of his mother, who died before him. Although he enjoyed the work of operating his land development company until the time of his death, his trade as an auto repairman was never lost as he continued his personal auto restoration projects well into the sixties. Ricky has enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters while wintering in Sebastian, Florida for the past 18 years. Ricky is survived by the love of his life, his wife whom he met in 1971, Ann (Carroll) Klein of Lenox, two sons, Brendan R. Klein of Pittsfield and Colby W. Klein of Lenox, one daughter, Alicia A. (Klein) Chezem and her husband Rob, their daughters Audrey and Eve of Sebastian, FL, two brothers, Randy Klein of MO and Doug Klein of GA, two sisters, Valerie LaVersa of NC and Dorothy Laux and her husband Eddie of GA.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St Great Barrington MA 01230. A funeral service for Richard “Ricky” M. Klein will be held Friday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery. from the village of West Stockbridge, followed by a celebration of life at the Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Ricky’s memory may be addressed to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
