Sunday event to help the Diboll police officer fighting cancer
Corey Clemens is an officer with the Diboll Police Department and in February he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. He began his radiation therapy and chemotherapy protocol soon after. He has since completed this protocol and is now awaiting follow-up appointments and tests to assess his recovery. Agent Clemens has used up all of his time off and is currently in FMLA. It has been a long and expensive journey, and many area residents and businesses have stepped up in recent months to help.
That being said, there is a huge event coming up this Sunday June 27 to benefit Clemens. It will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Diboll Civic Center, located at 601 Dennis Street.
There will be live performances from the Crimestoppers Band, David Allen Band and the Drifters. There will also be acoustic performances by Jesse Loving and Mike Helm. Gator Conley, who was in the movie Urban Cowboy, will also be at the event.
There is a $ 5 fee to participate in the event, but this will also give you a ticket to all of the door prize draws that will take place. At 4 p.m., don’t miss the live auction which will be presented by Bill Marlin Auctioneers. There will also be a car, bicycle and jeeps show during the fundraiser. The entrance fee for this is $ 10. Make sure you’re hungry for a plate of barbecue sandwich that will cost $ 10.
Anyone wishing more information or wishing to donate items for the event can contact Steve Price at 936-707-4469 or Chastity Bullock at 936-635-3919.
